A properly installed paver surface will last decades. The pavers themselves rarely fail; what fails is a poor base. Florida sand, heavy summer rain and root growth all punish a shallow or badly compacted base, which is why we strip out roots and vegetation and compact a proper foundation before a single paver is laid. Individual pavers can also be lifted and reset if a section ever settles, which you cannot do with poured concrete.

For most Florida properties, yes. Poured concrete cracks as the ground moves and the repair is a visible patch. Pavers have joints, so they flex with ground movement instead of cracking, and a damaged area can be lifted and re-laid invisibly. Pavers also stay cooler underfoot than dark concrete and give you far more choice of colour and pattern.

Lighter colours stay noticeably cooler than dark ones, which matters around a pool deck where people walk barefoot. Travertine and light concrete pavers are the coolest options we install. If the area is a pool surround, tell us and we will steer you toward the cooler, slip-resistant finishes.

A walkway or a set of steps can be a couple of days. A full driveway or pool deck is usually a week or so, depending on size, demolition and weather. We give you an estimated completion date with your quote and stick to it — if rain moves the schedule we tell you straight away.

It depends on the scope and your jurisdiction. Replacing an existing surface like-for-like often does not need one, while work that changes drainage, adds impervious area or touches a right-of-way usually does. HOAs frequently have their own approval process on top. We will tell you what your specific job needs before we start.

Artificial turf does sit warmer than natural grass in direct Florida sun. Modern infills and lighter yarn blends reduce it a lot, and shaded or partly shaded areas stay comfortable. Turf is also genuinely easier with dogs — it drains, it does not turn to mud, and there are no bare patches. Tell us it is a pet or play area and we will spec it accordingly.

Very little. Rinse them down, pull weeds out of the joints, and re-sand the joints every few years. Florida humidity means the shaded areas can grow algae, so an occasional wash keeps them looking new. Sealing is optional — it deepens the colour and makes stains easier to lift, but is not structurally necessary.

For repairs we lift the affected area, fix the base underneath and re-lay — which is exactly the advantage pavers have over concrete.
